Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our physician-directed, medically guided weight management services.

  • How does this medically guided weight loss program work?

Suncoast Trim Clinic is a telehealth facilitation platform that provides administrative support and care coordination services. We do not practice medicine. Medical evaluations, diagnoses, treatment decisions, and prescribing are performed solely by independently licensed healthcare providers.

After a comprehensive telehealth evaluation, a licensed provider determines whether prescription treatment is appropriate based on clinical guidelines and individual health factors.

When indicated, a provider may prescribe FDA-approved medications for chronic weight management. In certain circumstances, a provider may prescribe a compounded medication when medically appropriate and legally permitted. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies pursuant to a valid prescription.

Ongoing care may include medical monitoring, education, and structured support as determined by the licensed provider.

No membership or program fees are charged unless a licensed provider determines treatment is medically appropriate and issues a prescription.

Individual recommendations and treatment decisions vary by patient. Not all individuals qualify. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • How is nutrition addressed during the program?

Nutritional considerations may be discussed as part of a patient’s overall care plan when clinically appropriate.

Independently licensed healthcare providers may offer general guidance related to meeting nutritional needs while using prescribed medications. This may include education regarding protein intake, nutrient-dense food choices, hydration, and the appropriate use of supplements based on individual health factors.

Nutrition guidance is supportive in nature and does not replace individualized medical care from a patient’s primary healthcare provider or registered dietitian.

All recommendations are individualized and may change over time based on medical evaluation and clinical appropriateness. Individual responses and needs vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • How is care individualized in this program?

Treatment decisions are based on each patient’s medical history, clinical considerations, and treatment goals as determined solely by an independently licensed healthcare provider.

Following a comprehensive telehealth evaluation, the licensed provider determines whether treatment is medically appropriate and identifies suitable options based on individual health factors. Care plans may be adjusted over time according to clinical judgment, treatment response, and ongoing medical evaluation.

Administrative and care coordination support provided by Suncoast Trim Clinic may include appointment facilitation, communication assistance, and educational resources. Registered nurse–provided education, when applicable, is delivered in coordination with and under the direction of the licensed provider. Nursing staff do not independently diagnose, prescribe, or modify treatment plans.

Treatment plans are reviewed periodically and may be modified based on provider assessment. Not all individuals qualify for treatment. Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • What influences weight management progress?

Weight management responses vary and may be influenced by multiple factors. These may include adherence to prescribed medications (if applicable), nutritional intake, sleep patterns, stress levels, physical activity, underlying medical or metabolic conditions, and other individual health variables.

Independently licensed healthcare providers consider these factors during medical evaluation and follow-up visits and may adjust treatment plans when clinically appropriate based on professional judgment.

Progress may occur gradually and differs from person to person. Not all individuals respond the same way to treatment. Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • How is progress evaluated during the program?

Progress is evaluated through ongoing clinical review by an independently licensed healthcare provider rather than through guaranteed outcomes.

During follow-up evaluations, providers may consider factors such as changes in body weight over time, patient-reported experiences, medication tolerability (if applicable), and relevant clinical markers when available and appropriate.

Evaluation methods vary by patient and may include review of medical history, scheduled telehealth visits, and discussion of treatment response, tolerability, and overall health considerations. Treatment plans may be adjusted based on clinical judgment and medical appropriateness.

Individual responses differ, and not all patients experience the same outcomes. Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • How is pricing structured for the program?

Suncoast Trim Clinic provides administrative and care coordination services through structured self-pay programs.

No membership or program fees are charged unless a licensed provider completes a medical evaluation and determines that treatment is medically appropriate and issues a prescription.

For individuals prescribed FDA-approved, brand-name medications, the Concierge Support Membership is $129 every 28 days. Membership begins only after a prescription is issued and covers administrative support, telehealth coordination, appointment scheduling, and communication facilitation. Medication costs are separate and determined by the dispensing pharmacy or manufacturer.

If a licensed provider determines that a compounded medication is medically appropriate, total program pricing may include both administrative services and medication costs. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies pursuant to a valid prescription. Program fees are processed only after a prescription is issued. Pricing varies based on the prescribed formulation and pharmacy partner and is disclosed following clinical evaluation.

Suncoast Trim Clinic does not determine clinical treatment decisions or pharmacy pricing. All medical services and prescription decisions are made solely by independently licensed healthcare providers. Suncoast Trim Clinic does not bill insurance.

Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • Are there any potential side effects I should know about?

Yes. As with many prescription medications, GLP-1 receptor agonists — including FDA-approved medications such as semaglutide or tirzepatide — may cause side effects. If a compounded GLP-1–based medication is prescribed, it is not FDA-approved and may carry similar or additional risks.

Commonly reported side effects may include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, or abdominal discomfort, particularly during dose adjustments.

Less common but potentially serious risks have been reported and may include pancreatitis, gallbladder-related conditions, hypoglycemia (especially in patients using other glucose-lowering medications), or kidney-related complications. Thyroid C-cell tumors have been observed in animal studies; the relevance to humans has not been established.

These medications are not appropriate for everyone. Individuals with certain medical histories — including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2) — may not be eligible.

An independently licensed healthcare provider reviews your medical history, discusses potential risks and benefits, and determines whether treatment is medically appropriate based on your individual clinical profile.

Not all individuals qualify. Individual responses vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • Who can participate in this weight loss program?

Eligibility is determined solely by an independently licensed healthcare provider following a comprehensive medical evaluation conducted via telehealth.

In general, prescription treatment for chronic weight management may be considered for adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher with at least one weight-related health condition, consistent with FDA-approved labeling and applicable clinical guidelines.

However, meeting general BMI criteria does not guarantee eligibility. Final treatment decisions are based on individual medical history, contraindications, risk factors, and clinical judgment.

Not all individuals qualify for prescription therapy. Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • Are there any contraindications that would prevent me from qualifying for the weight loss treatment?

Certain medical conditions may make GLP-1–based medications unsafe or not appropriate for some individuals.

    Known contraindications may include:

    • A personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)

    • A history of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)

    • A prior serious hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to semaglutide, tirzepatide, or any component of the prescribed medication

    • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Individuals with a history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, significant gastrointestinal conditions, kidney disease, or other complex medical concerns may require additional evaluation and careful clinical consideration.

If a compounded GLP-1–based medication is prescribed, it is not FDA-approved and may carry similar or additional risks.

Final eligibility is determined solely by an independently licensed healthcare provider following review of your medical history, current medications, and overall clinical profile. Meeting general criteria does not guarantee qualification.

Not all individuals qualify for treatment. Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • Is this program medically supervised?

Medical services are provided by independently licensed healthcare professionals who are responsible for medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment decisions, prescribing, and ongoing clinical management.

All patients complete a telehealth evaluation with a licensed healthcare provider who determines whether treatment is medically appropriate based on clinical guidelines, contraindications, and individual health factors.

If treatment is initiated, follow-up care, monitoring, and any medication adjustments are managed by the licensed provider in accordance with applicable medical standards and clinical judgment.

Suncoast Trim Clinic provides administrative and care coordination services and does not practice medicine. No membership or program fees are charged unless a prescription is issued.

Not all individuals qualify for treatment. Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • How are medications prescribed?

Prescription medications are issued only after a telehealth evaluation conducted by an independently licensed healthcare provider.

During the evaluation, the provider reviews your medical history, current medications, reported symptoms, and other relevant health information to determine whether prescription treatment is medically appropriate.

When indicated, prescriptions are issued in accordance with applicable medical standards and, for brand-name medications, consistent with FDA-approved labeling. If a compounded medication is prescribed, it is not FDA-approved and is prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy pursuant to a valid patient-specific prescription.

Prescriptions are transmitted to a licensed pharmacy selected by the patient for dispensing. Medication selection, dosing, titration, and any adjustments are determined solely by the prescribing provider based on clinical judgment and patient response.

Suncoast Trim Clinic provides administrative and care coordination services and does not practice medicine, prescribe medications, or dispense drugs. No membership or program fees are charged unless a prescription is issued.

Not all individuals qualify for prescription therapy. Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.

  • Are compounded medications FDA-approved?

No. Compounded medications are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Compounded medications are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies pursuant to a valid, patient-specific prescription to meet individualized clinical needs. They do not undergo the same FDA premarket review process for safety, effectiveness, or quality as commercially manufactured, FDA-approved medications.

Compounded medications are regulated primarily by state boards of pharmacy and, depending on the facility type and circumstances, may also be subject to certain federal regulatory standards.

When a compounded medication is prescribed, the decision is made solely by an independently licensed healthcare provider based on individual clinical considerations and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Suncoast Trim Clinic does not manufacture, compound, prescribe, or dispense medications. No program fees are charged unless a prescription is issued.

Not all individuals qualify for treatment. Individual results vary. Weight loss is not guaranteed.
